Essential Driver Training (EDT) is a training course aimed at teaching the fundamental driving skills to learner car drivers. EDT is mandatory for all learner drivers who received their first learner permit on or after 4th April 2011.
In order to sit your driving test, the Essential Driver Training course must be completed with a RSA Approved Driving Instructor.
The EDT course comprises of 12 one-hour structured lessons as follows:

| Lesson 3: | Changing direction |
| Lesson 4: | Progression Management |
| Lesson 5: | Correct Positioning |
| Lesson 6: | Anticipation and reaction |
| Lesson 7: | Sharing the road |
| Lesson 8: | Driving safely through traffic |
| Lesson 9: | Changing direction (more complex situations) |
| Lesson 10: | Speed management |
| Lesson 11: | Driving calmly |
| Lesson 12: | Night driving |
The Bespoke Driving School EDT package includes:
Tuition with a RSA Approved Driving Instructor who has a number of years experience.
Free door to door collection and drop off from home, work, school or college.
Bespoke tailor made lessons to suit the needs of each individual learner.
Free RSA EDT Logbook to record all lessons and feedback on completion of each lesson.
Starter pack supplied to assist learner with information required for driving test.
